Everything you need to know about REAL Kids - our centres, programmes, and more.

General Information

When was REAL Kids Preschool established?
REAL Kids Preschool was established in 1988.
How many centres do you have?
We have more than 35 centres nationwide.
What makes REAL Kids unique?
Our unique approach includes a holistic teaching philosophy based on Multiple Intelligences, an in-house developed curriculum, a dedicated academic team for continuous R&D, and continuous professional development for our educators. We also have strategic collaborations with the Ministry of Education (MOE), ECCE Council, and the World Bank to ensure that REAL Kids programmes stay aligned with current educational trends and the evolving needs of today’s learners.
What are your operating hours?
We offer both Half Day (8:00 AM to 12:00 PM) and Full Day (8:00 AM to 3:30 PM) programmes. We also have Extended Programme which ends at 6pm.
What if I am late to pick up?
We understand that delays can happen, so please inform the centre as soon as possible. Otherwise, we kindly ask that all children be picked up within 30 minutes after dismissal, as our teachers' duty ends then. A small hourly fee will apply for late pickups beyond that time.
What is your teacher-to-child ratio?
We maintain a low teacher-to-child ratio, in line with government guidelines. Our ratios are:
Tots (6-30 months): 1 teacher to 3 children
Pre Nursery (3 years old): 1 teacher to 5 children
Pre-1, Pre-2 & Pre-3 (4-6 years old): 1 teacher to 10 children

These small group sizes allow our teachers to better support each child’s learning, confidence, and wellbeing throughout the day.

What curriculum and learning approaches do you use?
Based on the Multiple Intelligences theory, we use a multi-faceted approach which includes:

  • Project-Based Learning: An experiential and play-based approach.

Health and Safety

What is the school's commitment to health and safety?
We are dedicated to providing a safe, secure, and healthy environment for all students, staff, and visitors. We follow a comprehensive Health & Safety Policy that is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices.
How do you handle medical emergencies?
Our staff is trained to handle first aid and medical care. We have a school clinic and clear procedures for managing health issues and emergencies. In case of a minor injury, our staff will administer first aid and notify parents immediately. In the event of a medical emergency, we will contact the parents and local emergency services right away.
How do you ensure the safety of the premises and equipments?
We conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure all school premises, facilities, and equipments are safe. We also have measures in place for fire safety and emergency preparedness.

Safeguarding & Child Protection

What is your safeguarding and child protection philosophy?
We believe that everyone at the school is responsible for safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students. We take a "child-centered" approach, ensuring the best interests of the student are always paramount. This policy is in line with Malaysian law and also aligns with standards used by schools in the UK.
You may read more about our safeguarding efforts here: https://realkids.edu.my/about/safeguarding
What are the main types of abuse you address?
We address four main categories of abuse: neglect, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and physical abuse. We also recognize other forms of abuse, such as online bullying, child sexual exploitation, trafficking, and peer-on-peer abuse.
What is the procedure for reporting a safeguarding concern?
Any staff member who has a suspicion or is told of a safeguarding issue must report the information immediately to one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs). The staff member should not investigate the abuse themselves, but rather, limit questioning to seeking clarification only. Reports should be made on the day the incident occurs, even after school hours. Staff are also required to report any concerns about the conduct of other staff members.
What are some of the general safety rules for staff and students?
We have a clear policy with "dos and don'ts" to ensure a safe environment.

  • Staff should avoid being alone with students for extended periods and should ensure one-on-one meetings are visible to others by leaving doors open or using public spaces.
  • Staff should not enter student toilets or changing rooms.
  • Staff are not to add students on social media, exchange personal contact details, or provide personal transport to students.
  • Physical contact should be kept to a minimum and only occur when appropriate to the professional role.
